Go Emma Go!

Saw this picture that someone had created in another blog and just wanted to say a quick WHOOT WHOOT! to Emma Gailey who has put in countless hours, phone calls and emails getting the potential Girls on the Run of Louisville Chapter started! She has been able to rally a great team - at last count we had 14 active participants! Everyone involved has a passion for the organization and thanks to Emma, (who I am proud to call my friend and roommate!) we are on our way!

Our First Blog

Hi!
Today we are posting out very first Support Girls on the Run Louisville Blog!

For those of you who are asking, "What is Girls on the Run?" and "Are the girls running from something?" Go check out the Girls on the Run website www.girlsontherun.org and watch the video!

Girls on the Run is an International Non- Profit that began with an idea and the drive to see the big picture. GOTR is proactive approach to developing a mind, body and spirit for girls and young women. Enrollment for the program ranges from 3rd - 8th grade, but the lessons learned and confidence found will stay much longer than that. And no, my friends, they are not running away from anything. On the contrary, they will be running TOWARD something, something rather spectacular, toward themselves.

A group of local women have decided to bring back the Louisville Chapter of Girls on the Run.
With their dedication and the help of family, friends and the local community we have been able to meet our first fund-raising benchmark of $1,500! Thank you to all those who graciously donated and got us one step closer to becoming an affiliated member of Girls on the Run!

The next step is for several members to attend training at the National Headquarters in North Carolina. Don't forget to follow us on Twitter -- SupportforGOTR and Facebook on "Support for Girls on the Run in Louisville"!
